Il Messico è troppo lontano, ma una cenetta messicana non ce la toglie nessuno e cosi per la nostra condivisione del sabato abbiamo optato per i calienti sapori di El Pueblo, un ristorantino nei pressi della metro di valle Aurelia.

Come al solito, la nostra fonte di ispirazione l’abbiamo trovata in rete e così a colpo sicuro ci siamo recati in questo particolare luogo cult. Per via delle impalcature, la facciata esterna perde molto del suo fascino, ma gli interni curatissimi pareggiano subito il conto.

La prima saletta, quella in cui ci hanno fatto accomodare, è piccolina ma graziosa, affreschi aztechi ovunque, dettagli messicani e tavoli di legno. Si respira un’atmosfera gioviale, il proprietario tiene banco e riesce a dare le giuste attenzioni a tutti i clienti, spiegazioni, consigli e perle di saggezza.

Per me e il mio ragazzo era la prima cena messicana…per carità, mangiamo nachos con guacamole e tacos con chili da anni, ma un vero pasto messicano…mmm no, forse era proprio la prima volta. Scegliamo di provare quindi un menù già composto, tanto per assaggiare più cose…
E così scegliamo il “Menù di coppia di Pueblo” (totale 32 euro) comprendente:
-nachos con salsa chili
-queso fundito con jalapenos (formaggio fuso e chile jalapenos)
-enchilada rossa (tortilla ripiena di pollo, formaggio e salsa chili, con panna acida)
-burrito de frijoles (tortilla di farina, ripiena di fagioli passati, formaggio e salsa chili)
Aggiungiamo:
-Salsa per in più per i nachos (1 euro)
-Birra piccola (3 euro)
-Birra media (5 euro)
-Acqua 0,5 ml (1 euro)
Totale: 42 Euro
Iniziamo a degustare i nachos con la salsa chili e quella aggiunta da noi al peperoncino messicano affumicato, davvero un gusto forte e ottimo per i nostri palati. Dopo poco ci arriva la seconda portata prevista: formaggio fuso con pezzetti di jalapenos e 4 tacos di accompagnamento. Fin qui nulla da dire, apprezziamo sia il queso sia la classica tortilla.
Passano 2 minuti e arrivano anche le ultime due portate del menù. I sapori per il mio palato sono molto particolari, le consistenze sono tutte morbide, forse troppo e così constato che nella mia mente l’idea del ristorante messicano era totalmente inventata.

Immaginavo sapori forti, piccanti da farmi lacrimare e invece diciamo che per ora ho assaggiato solo vie di mezzo e gusti “ambigui”, li ho definiti così, gusti che non riesco a definire né piacevoli né sgradevoli. In generale le ultime due pietanze non mi sono piaciute proprio, la tortilla con il pollo l’ho trovata un po’ insipida, quella con i fagioli passati aveva una consistenza troppo fluida e non ha incontrato proprio il mio personalissimo gusto.

Ma cucina a parte (che insomma, de gustibus!), parliamo del ristorante…El Pueblo è sicuramente un posto carino, ma di sabato sera è improponibile, soprattutto per quelli che come noi, amano le cene lente, scandite da chiacchiere e attese, non è di certo una cena normale…qui i cibi si prestano ad esser serviti in modo rapido, c’è un ricambio continuo di clienti e pertanto la cena è più simile a quella in un fast food che a quella in un comune ristorante.

In meno di un’ora eravamo già fuori e quindi a parte l’opinabile gusto delle pietanze, questa velocità non l’abbiamo particolarmente gradita. Sicuramente è stata un’esperienza diversa, un incontro con una cultura e dei sapori nuovi…magari ci concederemo nuovamente questo esperimento…Magari più in là, molto più in là.. per ora, però per noi è un no!
Ps. Esperte di cucina e non solo, voi come trovate la cucina messicana? Avete mai avuto modo di sperimentarla, cosa mi consigliate per un futuro assaggio?
